WANT TO Learn how athletes are developed, coached and set up to perform?
Melbourne City FC and Federation University are exploring the possibility of delivering a new course in 2027 that would focus on areas related to coaching, sports education, athlete development and contemporary performance practices.

This qualification would be delivered on-site at the City Football Academy, and include all the benefits of being part of the MCISB, including Work Integrated Learning in our professional sporting club, mini-internships, and optional football development programs.

more information
We are exploring the value of a course of study for students who are passionate about sport and interested in helping athletes learn, develop and perform.

Not only for coaches, we intend this program to be of value to students interested in sports education, player development, high performance sport, physical preparation or athlete support.

And for students looking to further their education, we are exploring opportunities for graduates to progress into multiple Bachelor degrees, in fields such as sports science and physical education.

Why Study at
Melbourne City FC?
Most university students learn through textbooks and classroom discussions. But at MCISB, students learn inside a professional sporting environment.

Based at City Football Academy, Melbourne - ctrl:cyber Campus at Casey Fields, students study alongside Federation University lecturers while gaining insights from coaches, performance staff and professionals working across Melbourne City FC.

Through guest speakers, industry experiences and practical learning opportunities, students will gain exposure to contemporary approaches to athlete development and performance within professional sport.
Learn by doing
Practical experience is a key part of any program at the Melbourne City Institute of Sport and Business, and this program would be no different.
Alongside their academic studies, students gain opportunities to participate in practical learning experiences designed to connect theory with real-world sporting environments.

As we explore the potential for a program centred on sports performance and coaching, practical experiences are expected to include opportunities that are directly related to the course content, such as coaching, athlete development, performance and industry engagement.

(Please note that while this program is still in consideration, exact opportunities remain subject to change.)
